RYAF met with RDDP stakeholders and beneficiaries to assess the performance of dairy cooperatives managing MCCs during Fiscal year 2019-2020 and the projections for FY 2020-2021.

The Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) in collaboration with the RDDP project and other partners in the dairy value chain reviewed the evaluation results to assess the performance of dairy cooperatives managing milk collection centers based on different agreed indicators.

The cooperatives were presented with a general key indicators of the evaluation, namely: cooperative governance, cooperative management, business hub services at MCC and general performance of services provided by Milk Collection Centers (MCC).

In her welcome address, RYAF Corporate Liaison Manager, Mrs. Esperance NYIRAMUCYO appreciated all stakeholders who always work day to day with the RDDP project under dairy value chain development. She told them that the purpose of the meeting is review development and general performance of dairy cooperatives and look the ways forward to keep that performance and ways forward in the race.

Dr. Michel NGARAMBE, who were representing the Coordinator of the SPIU-IFAD Funded projects), said the evaluation was very needed because to better track the progress of RDDP project support towards beneficiaries and know how where they came from, where they were standing and where they wanted to go.

“We are very grateful to RYAF for its continued contribution to the development and performance of dairy cooperatives in the dairy value chain in Rwanda in partnership with RDDP project, and other stakeholders “Ngarambe said”

He addressed that stakeholder should put hands together so that farmers would get out of poverty by farming as business. This comes from information sharing, skills development, capacity building, value addition and marketing of dairy produces.

Miss Alice Ingabire: RYAF-RDDP operations manager has mentioned how strong is the partnership between dairy stakeholders and farmers by service provision and strong collaboration to continue the development of dairy farmers. She showed how Milk collection enters managed by Dairy Cooperatives stand so far in terms of general performance and development, based on the evaluation that took place on June 15th, 2020 to June 23th, 2020 conducted by RYAF in all RDDP project areas of intervention

The participants (Leaders of Unions of dairy cooperatives at District level, and dairy cooperatives’ representatives) appreciated for RYAF support and partnerships, as well as the cession under partnership with RDDP project as it was the right time to them for assessment of performance progress and general development of dairy cooperatives under RDDP direct and indirect support. Beneficiaries suggested that this action should be six months and /or on yearly basis to track the performance progress of dairy cooperatives performance, finally, it was suggested local government and other government agencies should be involved under this activity as there are the one working closely with beneficiaries.

Dr. NGARAMBE Michel put to an end the session by appreciating all stakeholders and beneficiaries by promising to continue direct partnership with RDDP and RYAF within FY 2020-2021 to those still under support and wish the graduated to continue the development and performance of all what they reached with RYAF.
