RYAF AND RICEM SIGN MOU TO BUILD THE CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT FOR THE YOUTH ENGAGED IN AGRIBUSINESS

On January 16, 2024, Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) and Rwanda Institute of Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship and Microfinance (RICEM) joined forces, signed an MoU to strengthen the partnership in youth capacity development within the agribusiness ecosystem.

This collaboration opens doors for RYAF members to access specific RICEM programs, including the Business Simulation game and their newly introduced Climate Resilience Simulation game, among others, the MOU signed between RYAF and RICEM was represented by Sakina Usengimana RYAF Chairperson and Dr. Olivier Mukulira Managing Director at RICEM.

RYAF and RICEM agree to undertake joint initiatives on various aspects with special focus on interventions that create new opportunities for youth in agriculture related activities in Rwanda. These interventions will include joint project proposal writing and activities implementation, strengthen the capacity of RYAF members, advocate and empower the youth in Agribusiness. This partnership will help both parties to collaborate on development of more resilient livelihoods for youth in agriculture.

Rwanda Institute of Cooperative entrepreneurship and Microfinance (RICEM) is a training institution, providing capacity building in three pillars namely; Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship and microfinance. RICEM was established in 2014 as a Ministry of Trade and Commerce (MINICOM) project and later was handed over to the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Rwanda (AMIR) and the National Cooperative Confederation of Rwanda (NCCR).
