Meet Arsene Janvier NSANZUWERA: young agripreneur, Thanks to UNDP and MINAGRI
Arsene Janvier NSANZUWERA is a young agripreneur and the owner of NARS Farm Ltd, which specializes in banana farming, cattle farming, and pig farming. He operates in northern province of Rwanda, Gakenke District, Rushashi sector, Nganzo village, Nsanzuwera’s journey into agriculture started back in April 2018, He expresses his gratitude to the United Nations Development Programme Rwanda, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), for the grant fund provided, which enabled him to expand his business and increase his production.
His journey into agriculture began in April 2018 when he took over his family's land. With a strong passion for farming and a vision to make it a successful business, he dove headfirst into the sector. However, like many young entrepreneurs, he faced challenges such as lack of resources.
“The journey of banana farming started when I had the idea that the land at home was not being used, I would make it used and do something special in my area that would benefit the community and the country in general i decided to venture into banana farming due to the where i passed i have seen the farmers doing it but they did not it professionally.” Arsene Janvier NSANZUWERA.
But everything changed for NSANZUWERA when he got selected as a beneficiary of a grant fund provided by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Rwanda, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI). The grant enabled him to expand his business and increase his production significantly. With the support and resources at his disposal, he quickly transformed his small farm into a thriving business that specializes in banana farming, cattle farming, and pig farming.
Today, NARS Farm Ltd has become a prime youth example of a successful agribusiness in Rushashi sector, and NSANZUWERA has become a well-known name in the local agricultural community. With the help of modern techniques, he has been able to increase his production and achieve better yields. He has also been able to create job opportunities for other young people in his community, thus contributing to the government's efforts to reduce unemployment.
NSANZUWERA is also a firm believer in sustainable farming practices, which is why he has implemented water conservation techniques, and uses organic fertilizers, making sure he leaves a positive impact on the environment.
He expresses his gratitude towards UNDP Rwanda and MINAGRI for their support, which has been instrumental in his success. He believes that their initiatives have opened doors for many young agripreneurs like himself, and he is determined to make the most out of the opportunities provided.
