Karangwa Felix is the owner of Rulindo Smart Agriculture Business Center Ltd, operating in Rulindo District, Rusiga Sector in the Northern Province of Rwanda. In his center, focuses on cultivating passion fruits, beans, tree tomatoes, and tomatoes, alongside poultry and rabbit farming.
Recently, he participated in the 17th Rwanda National Agriculture Show took place from July 31st to August 9th, 2024, at the Mulindi showground in the Gasabo District of the City of Kigali., which was a transformative experience for his business. “The exhibition not only provided us with the opportunity to gain new customers who will purchase our produce but also allowed me to network with fellow farmers. Through these interactions, we exchanged ideas and shared valuable advice on how to improve our farming practices.” Karangwa Added
One of the significant benefits I gained was from visiting different stands during the Agricultural show, here, I acquired new knowledge on how to add value to our tree tomatoes and passion fruits, which will help us enhance the quality and marketability of our products.
Furthermore, I learned about the importance of securing our farming activities through livestock insurance under the Tekana Urishingiwe Muhinzi Mworozi program. This knowledge is crucial in protecting our investments and ensuring the sustainability of our operations.
The exhibition also provided insights into modern farming techniques. “I discovered effective ways to properly feed chickens, which is essential for increasing production. Additionally, I learned about advanced rabbit-rearing practices from the Kigali Rabbit Farm stand. Previously, I believed that rabbits only ate grass, which delayed their growth. However, with this new understanding, I can now implement modern feeding practices to improve their growth and productivity.” KARANGWA added
Overall, the agricultural exhibition has been a significant milestone for our business, equipping us with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to drive our farming activities forward.
The Rwanda National Agriculture Show is an annual event organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) to exhibit innovations and best practices in the agriculture sector in Rwanda.
