Rwandans celebrated 2020 National Harvest Day known as UMUGANURA

Every year Rwandans all over the world and friends of Rwanda celebrates national harvest day knows as Umuganura, Rwanda Traditional ceremony in which the community come together to celebrate fruits of their hard work.

UMUGANURA 2020 themed as “The source and Foundation of Unity and Self-reliance

In Rwanda Traditions, Umuganura “Harvest Day” was one of the most important ceremonies performed by Rwandans at the beginning of every harvest season. This event come second to the most important ceremony in the Rwandans Kingdom. which was the enthronization of the new king.

Umuganura also, is a good time of sharing the bounty of the harvest with family friends and neighbors. Staple foods like sorghum, millet and boiled maize are enjoyed, and milk in traditional containers is shared as well.

RYAF as one of institutions has more than 12000 youth members engaged in Agriculture and livestock in Rwanda and even play an important role in transforming Rwanda’s agriculture sector, they not left behind in cerebrating First-Fruits Festival 2020.

Through its twitter wall, and other social media platform features of the institution, conveyed a message of congratulations to all Rwandans and friend of Rwandans on the occasion of the anniversary of UMUGANURA 2020

“Umuganura2020 should serve as an opportunity to instill positive values from our culture among young people while also reflecting their vital contribution by transforming Rwanda’s agriculture sector to be attractive, and the sector becomes a business oriented gold”
